Bushings are the rubber heart of a truck: every turn compresses them, and when they wear, the truck goes vague no matter how good the metal is. A fresh set resets the feel to day one for pocket change.

Durometer is the whole decision. 85A sits at the soft end of the ladder - easy, surfy turns and trucks you can ride loose. If you are unsure, start here and adjust one step at a time - the differences are real but small, and your ankles will tell you which direction to go.

The swap takes five minutes with a skate tool: kingpin nut off, old bushings out, new set in, then tune the nut until the turn feels right. While the truck is apart, glance at the pivot cup - the two wear together, and replacing both is the full refresh.
