Slappy Trucks was founded by Mike Sinclair, a longtime skateboard industry team manager (Foundation, Toy Machine, Nike SB, Tum Yeto) who spent two years during the COVID-19 lockdown designing a truck focused on smoother turning and better grind clearance.

The name comes from the slappy grind - grinding a curb or obstacle without popping an ollie — reflecting the brand's focus on everyday street terrain over purely technical skating.

ST1 Classic is the standard, strongest (and heaviest) build. ST1 Hollow uses a hollowed-out kingpin and hanger for less weight at the same dimensions. ST1 Hollow Inverted recesses the kingpin further for maximum grind clearance - the premium option in the line.

Slappy's ST1 line is sized in inches to roughly match deck width - pick the truck size closest to your deck's width. For decks that fall between available sizes, the closest stocked size is the right call.

As a general starting point based on rider weight: under 140 lbs, look at 81A–85A; 140–175 lbs, 86A–90A; 175–200 lbs, 91A–95A; over 200 lbs, 96A–100A and up. Softer bushings turn more easily and suit a looser feel, while firmer bushings offer more stability at speed. This is a starting point, not a strict rule - riding style and personal preference matter just as much as weight.

The core design focus is kingpin/grind clearance - reducing hang-ups during grinds - while keeping a responsive, classic-feeling turn. The Hollow Inverted models push this furthest by recessing the kingpin.
